Welcome To Black Hollywood!

A booming industry cultural shift finds its home in Georgia...and we are here for it!
Atlanta has always been special to me. Before I moved here, I visited every year and reported to the now defunct Georgia Dome to be a part of the magnificent “Battle of The Bands”.
It made me proud to be a black woman every time I witnessed the magnificent showmanship of our elite HBCU bands. (Shout out to the Alabama State “Honeybeez”!)
These days, I have a new sense of pride. I officially live in the Atlanta area and I am proud to be a part of what is now known as “Black Hollywood”. What exactly is Black Hollywood? Quite frankly, it is a culture shift that has found its home in Georgia. The shift includes a cadre of black filmmakers, screenwriters, actors and actresses, models, producers. You name it, we are here and we are connecting and thriving. We are telling our stories from our perspectives and it feels wonderful to finally be able to do so after years of being misrepresented and stereotyped.
DreamEmpire joins the ranks of the very long list of film production companies producing movies for the masses. Led by CEO and best selling author, Joyce Licorish, DreamEmpire is currently in pre-production for its first major motion picture, “The Lost Locket”. The film has an estimated budget of $33 million and is attracting some of the biggest names in the industry both behind and in front of the cameras.
As DreamEmpire, LLC has become a full fledged member of the Black Hollywood culture, our goal is to move, touch and inspire with our content. Although it is a black-owned business, it is a company from which you will see diversity within its content. It is a company that seeks to employ and promote people of all ethnic groups and backgrounds. DreamEmpire is slated to do great things in the coming years and not just in the film industry. The company offers a myriad of services from screenwriting consultation to voice over instruction. This female driven company is expanding rapidly and will most assuredly become an industry giant within the next five years.
Takeaway - We as Black filmmakers now more than ever before are telling our stories from our perspectives and it feels wonderful to finally be able to do so after years of being misrepresented and stereotyped.
